Best Diablo 4 Lvl 20 Barbarian Build - Best Thorns Barbarian Boss Leveling Build for D4 Beta
Thorns Barbarian is back in Diablo 4, and it feels very powerful. The Thorns Barbarian Build in D4 is all about dealing massive thorns damage and staying alive through tough fights. You want to use Steel Grasp to move mobs and use Flay to gain extra Thorns and damage reduction. Once your Flay is stacked, you pop Wrath of the Berserker and Challenging Shout to dish out loads of damage. Keep using Steel Grasp to make sure mobs stay together, and be sure not to move too much so that you don’t accidentally walk out of hits. With the right gear and skills, you can easily tear through groups of enemies and take down even the toughest bosses. Here’s everything about the D4 level 20 Thorns Barbarian build after Server Slam.
Gameplay Tips for D4 Thorns Barbarian Build
- Focus on getting gear with high thorns damage and strength: Thorns damage is the core of this build, so prioritize gear that gives you the most thorns damage possible. Strength is also important, as it increases your overall damage.
- Use the Bloodbath rune for Ground Stomp: The Bloodbath rune turns your Ground Stomp into a powerful AOE attack that deals additional thorns damage. Use it to quickly clear out groups of enemies.
- Take advantage of Frenzy: Frenzy is your main attack skill in this build, and it can be incredibly powerful with the right runes and gear. Make sure to keep using Frenzy as often as possible to maximize your damage output.
- Use War Cry to boost your defenses: War Cry is a great defensive skill that increases your armor and resistances, making you more durable in combat. Use it before engaging tough enemies or when you need to escape dangerous situations.
- Stay mobile and avoid getting surrounded: Thorns Barbarians can deal a lot of damage, but they're not very mobile and can get overwhelmed if surrounded by too many enemies. Keep moving and try to funnel enemies into chokepoints to make them easier to deal with.
- Use Wrath of the Berserker for extra damage: Wrath of the Berserker is a powerful skill that increases your damage and attack speed for a short time. Use it when facing tough enemies or bosses to quickly take them down.

Best Thorns Barbarian Build Skills & Abilities
Flay, Enhanced Flay, Combat Flay
Rend, Furious Rend
Imposing Presence
Outburst
Tough as Nails
Challenging Shout, Enhanced Challenging Shout, Strategic Challenging Shout
Iron Skin
Rallying Cry
Hamstring
Death Blow
- You do want to go into Flay, you can stack up to a lot more thorns. So what you're going to see is when you stack up to Flay, you get 32 times thorns, so you got 128 more thorns by doing this. Also you do want to be attacking with Flay a lot. So Flay will be the resource generator and also a massive damage stating cat and a massive damage dealing contributor to your build. So make sure you should Flay a lot to deal more damage and also gain more thorns.
-Then go with Rend, that will allow us to do a little bit of bleeding damage and render will also provide us with more fury. Go with the upgrades for Rend instead of going for the Rend itself.
- The highlight is that we'll be going with bonus maximum life for thorn and we'll be going with all the perks for thorn. So gain 38 thorns and also gain additional thorns for bonus life we have. And we'll be going with increased thorns percentage, notice that those have been nerfed quite a bit simply because previous in Open Beta, thorn was like 2 op apparently.
-Then we'll be going with challenging shot, we'll be upgrading this one with additional life gained when we have challenging shot and also game bonus storm will have challenging shot. Other than that, we don't really need any of the active skill points, if you want to be durable, go with Iron Skin. If you want to move faster and also gain more resource, go with Rallying Cry. Other than that, you can go with mobility with Leap or Death Blow. Death Blow is quite good because we lack a bit of single target damage and death blow will reset each time you kill enemies.
- For the last skill point, going with bleeding slows enemies. Our thorn will be slowing enemies and also Rend will be bleeding enemies, so when you bleed enemies you'll be slowing them down now.
