Diablo 2 Resurrected Patch 2.4 PTR: Ladder, Runewords, Cube Recipes and Class Changes
The Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 update announcement was released on December 16 by Blizzard. Patch 2.4 will be live on PC and consoles, excluding the Nintendo Switch version.
Ladder In Diablo 2 Resurrected Patch 2.4
Like Diablo 2 Classic, Diablo 2 Resurrected will feature four different Ladder modes: Standard Ladder, Hardcore Ladder, Standard Expansion Ladder, and Hardcore Expansion Ladder.
Standard Ladder: the casual version of Ladder play that encompasses playing with four acts.
Hardcore Ladder: the hardcore (only 1 life) version of Ladder play that encompasses four acts.
Standard Expansion Ladder: the casual version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts, as in includes the “Lord of Destruction” expansion content.
Hardcore Expansion Ladder: the hardcore (only 1 life) version of Ladder play that encompasses playing 5 acts, as it includes the “Lord of Destruction” expansion content.
How Ladder Works In Diablo 2 Resurrected
The ladder is a pre-set schedule of a time where you get to the Ladder. Everyone races to level 99. If you are the first to level 99, you can go on like a leaderboard. And on the leaderboard, basically from there everyone that’s level 99 competes to how much experience you have beyond 99 where the leaderboard goes. When the Ladder is done, there will be top 100 people in season 1 that were a Paladin, Barbarian, Sorcerer, Amazon, and so and so forth.
When Will Ladder Begin
Typically, Ladder lasts around 3 months. The Ladder is going to happen in mid-January because that's what we're track of the game came out about two to three months later. We have a Ladder start, as the beginning of the game is like the beginning of the Ladder.
New Runewords In Diablo 2 Resurrected Patch 2.4
Another exciting thing you can expect from this Diablo Resurrected patch 2.4 update is they're going to come up with new rune words in the Ladder system. The predictions on the new rune words would be like rune words specifically for other mercenaries that aren't Act. 2 mercenaries to give us the incentive to have those mercenaries. An Act. 3 mercenary is a big thing because a rune word with a sword, an Act.2 or Act.1 mercenary and more rune words like faith you know for the bow so that makes us incentivize us to use these other mercenaries rather than always using Act. 2 mercenaries. Rune words that they're going to bring in this D2R Patch 2.4 could easily buff these things that they want to buff as well. Different buffs make different builds to fit the heavens or a golem build instead of a skeleton build.
The new rune words are going to be in the Diablo 2 Resurrected now, but are going to be Ladder only. When the Ladder ends, your characters that are in the Ladder transfer from Ladder to non-Ladder. Those rune words that you made throughout the Ladder transfer over. You can't remake those rune words in non-Ladder, but those rune words will stay in non-Ladder. What you did make in Ladder transfers over to non-Ladder and then the new Ladder will begin hopefully they may become all-new rune words or changes to equipment or skills. Then we can make all those new rune words once again.
Class Balance Changes In Diablo 2 Resurrected Patch 2.4
There are new changes to expand character build diversity and retain class fantasy and specialty. Class balance is crucial because they assess cast delays, underuse skills, make the quality of life changes, and more to expect.
Amazon
With the new Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 Patch notes, they're talking about buffing the Amazon’s bow tree. Making the bow and crossbow tree more utilized, more prevalent, and more accessible to everyone without overspending on gear. Because it's even if you get a lot of gear for the bow, it doesn't do as well as the other classes that you need less gear. Therefore, they're going to be buffing that.
Assassin
For the assassin, they're going to be buffing the martial arts skills. The classes have new ways to expense their combo points and they're also going to buff underused traps. So there's a different kind of trap build out there other than just the niche that everyone does.
Barbarian
For the Barbarian, they're going to buff leap attack and grim ward. They are also going to reevaluate synergies for certain skills and if you're going to go into certain paths like increasing your skill damage for making the Barbarian a little more accessible as well. They're also buffing the double throw and throw masteries, in addition, enhancing the damage on those.
Druid
For the Druid, they are going to buff fire skills and cast delays on fire skills. Then improve some of the physical damage on things improving synergies, making its energies more accessible. The elemental skills they're going to buff include the boulder or armageddon being buffed. Instead, they want to improve arctic blast, make summoning skills more prevalent in the hell and nightmares difficulties, increase the health per level quality life improvements that could be more synergies, and they do talk about changing synergies with ravens the wolves, the vines and damage output.
Necromancer
For the Necromancer, they are going to buff the golems that are underused. Such as iron golem and skeleton mages because they're useless. However, they are making the opportunities for the bone skills to be improved and making that more prevalent as well. Because bone is not really seen a lot over like poison and summoning. You don't see a lot of bones, so they're going to do the new rune word where it's having with that as well.
Paladin
For the Paladin, they're going to make fist of the heavens more utilized and make the offensive skills more prevalent as far as aoe damage. We also can expect to see an improvement of thorns so it can scale better and deal more reliable damage at higher levels.
Sorceress
For the Sorceress, they are making changes to the cold skills and the armor skills (Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor, and Chilling Armor) that make them differentiated. They're also talking about changing some of the lighting skills because there's a lot of underused lighting skills. Maybe are used more for the fire skills, they want to change hydra with arctic blast, they want to change inferno to make those things more used than they are now.
Mercenary
For the mercenary, they don't want the desert mercenary to be the only thing that's used, because the best equipment that helps you overall is where it is. They are going to have new horadric cube recipes and they want to change some of the set Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder items and new rune words in Diablo 2 patch 2.4. As well as the elite sets aren't used at all. Changing those to help maves for the bows, as we mentioned previously how the bow Amazon is going to be buffed. Mave's being buffed because that would help the bow amazon.
