In Diablo 4, we have various ways to upgrade our equipment and characters, such as Legendary Enchanting, Gearing Salvaging, Gem Crafting. In this article, we will briefly introduce three main ways to upgrade equipment in Diablo IV.
Diablo 4 Gear Upgrading Guide: Blacksmith, Jeweler, Occultist Guide
In Diablo 4, it's possible for players to enhance their equipment. By visiting the Blacksmith or Jeweler, gear can be upgraded to increase both its Item Power and its stats. The number of upgrades that can be performed on a piece of gear depends on its rarity and can range up to five times. However, the cost of upgrades will gradually increase with each upgrade, as they require D4 Gold and Materials. As a reward for each successful upgrade, players will receive a boost of +5 Item Power. Want to know how to upgrade your gear through the three NPCs? Follow us to discover more details now!
Diablo 4 Blacksmith - Repair, Salvage, Upgrade Gear
The blacksmith offers different services for our equipment in Diablo 4. He breaks down useless Diablo 4 items into valuable resources. He repairs useful pieces of equipment if they are broken and can also upgrade them afterward, which improves their values on them. However, the blacksmith is only available later in the game and is unlocked through a quest.
How To Unlock Blacksmith in D4?
At character level 10, we receive a priority task that takes us to Blacksmith Zivek in Kyovashad. All we have to do is upgrade one piece of equipment. Afterwards, we can use all of his services. Since we will need a blacksmith again and again as the game progresses, it is very helpful that there are several blacksmiths in Diablo 4. They are mainly found in cities, outposts and unlocked bases.
What To Do With Blacksmith in D4?
Salvage Gear
Most captured equipment is useless for our character. However, these items are very valuable to us. By disassembling items at the blacksmith we get valuable raw materials, which we need to upgrade our used equipment. The better the quality of the item, the more valuable raw materials we get when recycling it. Here's what you need to know about recycling:
Items that are disassembled are subsequently available for transmogrification.
Salvaging upgraded items will return some of the resources used to upgrade them.
Socketed gems are automatically removed from the equipment and end up in the inventory.
There is an "Salvage All Junk" button that will disassemble all items in the inventory. However, unique items, legendary items, and enchanted and socketed items are excluded from this.
Repair Equipment
Every time we die, all our equipment loses 10% durability. With 0 durability, the equipment is destroyed, rendering some stats inactive and our character severely weakened. For this reason, you should always repair your equipment as soon as you are near a blacksmith. The gold cost increases with the strength of the damage and the item power (GearScore) of the equipment.
Upgrade weapons & Armor
When leveling, we still very often find better equipment, especially at the beginning in Diablo 4, which is why upgrading makes little sense. Especially with rare and magic items, it's a waste, since we need certain raw materials for upgrading. However, later on we find items with better quality levels and bonuses, where upgrading makes sense. Each item can be upgraded multiple times and will be improved by 5 item power each time. This works for all rarity levels, including legendary items and unique items. Each upgrade increases item power, armor, weapon damage and stats. Attention. The blacksmith cannot upgrade rings and amulets. This service is provided by the Jewelersmith.
Diablo IV Jeweler - Craft, Socket, Upgrade Jewelry
In Diablo IV, the Jeweler gives you access to the crafting of gems and everything that comes close or far to this activity. Collect your Rubies, Sapphires, and other stones and bring new bonuses to your equipment in order to defeat the Underworld once and for all. Find all the details below.
How To Unlock Jeweler in D4?
The Jeweler is unlocked through a priority quest that starts at character level 20. She leads us to the jeweler Kratia in Kyovashad. Once there, we should upgrade a gemstone to a higher tier. We get the gems we need from the jeweler himself, but we have to bear the small cost of the upgrade ourselves. After completing these quests, the jeweler will offer us all his services.
What To Do With Jeweler in D4?
Crafting Gems
Each gem can be upgraded in exchange for multiple copies of a given rank and amount of gold. The more you progress in your adventure, the more you will have access to high rank gems.
Upgrading Gems
The Jeweler allows you to clear the gems present in your pieces of equipment. Your choices are not final.
Adding Sockets
You can add a socket to the item of your choice via the Jewelry, in exchange for Diffused Prisms.
Upgrading Rings & Amulets
Already at level 10, we got to know the blacksmith in Diablo 4. This upgrades our armor, which increases its value. However, the blacksmith cannot upgrade rings and amulets. This service is reserved for the jeweler. For these upgrades, we need certain raw materials and gold. Gold cost increases with item power and tier levels. The number of raw materials required only increases with the upgrade level of the rings and amulets.
Diablo IV Occultist - Legendary Aspects, Sigils, Enchant
In Diablo IV, your legendary powers are not restricted to the items you have in your possession. If you prefer your ring to have the affix currently present on your breastplate, the Occultist will meet your expectations and also takes care of Sigils and enchantments. Find all the info below.
How To Unlock Occultist in D4?
During your adventures in Sanctuary, you will encounter several Occultists. The latter take care of the engraving and the extraction of the legendary Aspects, the manufacture and the recycling of the Emblems and the enchantments. Go to one of the Occultists present throughout Sanctuary, such as Demyan in Kyovashad. Choose the item you want to modify or give it your unnecessary Emblems to get the ones you need. If one of your parts has an affix that does not suit you, this one will also meet your expectations.
What To Do With Occultist in D4?
Imprint Legendary Aspects
When you engrave an Aspect on a rare or legendary item at the Occultist, place the piece of equipment in the slot provided. You will then select the effect you want, via the Codex of Power or an Aspect present in your inventory. Validate your choice and then recover the modified object as you wish!
Extracting Legendary Aspects
Placing a legendary item in the slot will destroy it and give you the Aspect it contained, which you can then use in another of your items whenever you want.
Crafting Sigils
The Occultist is also in charge of crafting Sigils that turn a dungeon into a Nightmare dungeon. To do this, you will need Emblem Powders, obtained when recycling Sigils.
Salvaging Sigils
You also have the option of recycling your Sigils with the Occultist. You will then obtain a certain quantity of Emblem Powders which will be used to craft specific Sigils.
Enchanting Gear
Like Diablo III's Mystic, Diablo IV's Occultist can enchant one of your items. Place a piece of equipment that you want to change one of the affixes and choose a new one from those offered in exchange for crafting materials and an increasing gold cost. If you perform this action, the item will become bound to you.
The services provided by the above three NPCs can greatly improve your equipment and builds, but don't forget to prepare some gold and materials. The official release of Diablo 4 is getting closer, we will continue to provide you with more professional guides, so stay tuned.
