Is Paladin the Best Class for Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 Patch Ladder Start - D2R Ladder Reset Tips
If you are wondering which is the best class for Ladder beginners, here are some views from MrLlamaSC, covering the advantages of paladins at the start of Ladder reset.
1. Stronger damage as the level goes up
The first thing is big damage as the level progresses. Paladin is not amazingly strong when you just start out, you’ve got some fun little auras with Might and Holy Fire and Smite, but early on, it’s not doing a lot. But as you start to level the character up, as you start to get a lot of levels into Holy Fire, they can become more deadly. Once you hit 30, you can get Conviction or you can get Fanaticism, once you can get a little bit of gear, once you can get a Hammer going, then your character starts to become insane. Hammerdin is probably the best Paladin build in D2R. Or you can get a really nice shield going with Smite, you get Holy Shield kind of rocking as well. The higher level you get with these characters, the more you add on even basic gear.
2. Useful in Chaos & Baal runs
There is going to be a lot of Chaos runs and Baal runs, the wave 2 Unravelers are the only thing going to be resisting them in all of the Chaos and Baal, that can be easily killed by Blizzards. Everybody's doing these runs and they're looking for ways to kill them quickly and these characters are that way. If you get a few Hammerdins in a run and they're all running around casting their hammers, you're gonna be murdering those runs, murdering the Baal waves as they come out because all the hammers are already spinning there and everything really just picks up speed, you have the Hammerdins and that's super useful there. Even if you're not a hammer, you still are going to be insanely strong in these areas, because you're going to be providing auras, you're going to be providing Conviction aura or Might or to other characters as well, all of everything with the additional stuff that you provide to your team even stuff like Salvation is extremely useful, having a few paladins in team composition in a group in a big party is extremely helpful and a big boost.
3. Powerful in Cows
They are very strong in the Cows. This is just aimed at the Hammerdins. You don’t really need teleport early on to run around the Cows and drop a few hammers. So you can skill a lot of stuff and just be pretty strong to find some of those Diablo 2 runes and bases and items that you really want.
4. Tons of builds in Ladder
The next benefit of Paladin is the diversity of builds that are viable, you have Smiter, FOH, Hammer, Zeal, etc., there are so many different ways that you can run these characters and it really opens up a lot of stuff that's super fun. Not every build is going to be perfectly amazing for the early stages of D2 Ladder reset, but there's enough, Smiter is going for Ubers, Hammerdin is for going for just killing all sorts of stuff and being helpful in parties, and FOH for having the conviction to really help out the rest of your party. A ton of builds that's gonna be super fun for everybody right there.
5. Uber killer in Ladder start
Paladin is also a Uber killer at the start of the Ladder, if you can get yourself early torches, they can really be worth a lot, everybody is looking for torches, there is such a big upgrade to it. Being able to have a character that can go in and kill the Ubers is extremely helpful and this does not take a lot, because you don’t even need a ton of gear to go fight the Ubers. All you need is some sort of source of Life Tap, a little bit of Crushing Blow, and some Open Wounds somewhere, you are basically good and you just murder everything.
6. Items are easy to get early on
If you are going for late-game Tesladin, it’s gonna be expensive. But when you are going for that Hammerdin or you are going for Smiter, when you are going for those early Ladder builds, it takes almost nothing to get really solid. You can go through and destroy so many areas in many ways for nothing. You don't need some valuable D2R Ladder items. Paladin might be the best starting class for Diablo 2 Ladder reset.
