We go over Diablo 4's Answer to Path of Exile's Build Customization and give a detailed breakdown of the Paragon Tree. Diablo 4’s answer to Path of Exile’s Passive Skill Tree, unlocked at level 50, heart of Diablo 4’s game build customization, massive improvement over Diablo 3’s Paragon System with infinite levels.
What Is the Paragon Board
-Start at center of Class’s intro board and make selections radiating outward with connecting tiles.
-You will earn 4 Paragon Points per level until Level 100.
-Additional Paragon Points from Zone Renown Completion?
-Different Types of Tiles.
Reach Gate Node on Board’s Four Edges to attach another Paragon Board.
Evolution of the Paragon Board
December 2021:
-First Glimpse of Board.
-No Artwork with filler shapes.
-21x21 tiles across.
July 2022:
-19x19 in Size and Circular in Shape.
August 2022:
-Most recent is square in shape and 19x19 Tiles.
Types of Paragon Tiles
-Common Tiles: Provides small stat boost (+5 strength).
-Magic Tiles: Provides a potent, more diverse set of benefits (+10% Fire Resistance).
-Rare Tiles: Provides significant boosts in power (Grants 10 Fury per kill), with additional powers unlocking at certain primary stat thresholds.
-Legendary Tiles: Provides a new Legendary power to the character (While your Fury is above 50% you deal 30% more damage).
Glyphs/Sockets
-Similar to Threshold Jewels in Path of Exile.
-Socket Paragon Tile.
-Players can insert a Glyph into these sockets.
-Grants you a bonus based on how many tiles are activated within the Glyph Radius.
-Glyphs have levels that can be increased by completing certain dungeons.
-Has UI for easy storage on use on future attached boards.
Attaching New Paragon Board
-When you reach the Gate Node at board’s four edges, you can attach another Paragon Board. Work inward from Gate Node to Legendary Tiles or other Gate Nodes to attach another board.
-Will Paragon Boards be randomly generated or fixed?
-You can rotate the board to optimize which of the board’s four gates will attach to the existing board’s gate. Easier access to certain tiles.
Final Tips
-Big question of how we can obtain new boards.
-Bigger Boards in the Future?
-Nice balance of complexity without being completely overwhelming like Path of Exile.
-Definite improvement over Diablo 3’s horrendous Paragon System.
-Inspiration from Path of Exile with Cluster Jewels (Additional Paragon Boards) and Threshold Jewels (Socket Glyphs).
