How to make this Dark Moon Greatsword build work
With this build, we are going to use the Dark Moon Greatsword, and in this build, we're focused on optimizing our damage, with not only this sword but also how to get the most damage out of spells as well, the Dark Moon Greatsword has very good scaling at max level and has decent strength and dexterity scaling, the difference is strength and dexterity will give you physical damage and intelligence will give you magic damage, so you need to keep increasing intelligence over strength and dexterity.
On to the staff that we're using for this build, we're using the Carian Regal Scepter, and that's because it's basically the best all-around staff in the game if you're not specializing in one school of magic besides Lusat's Glintstone Staff which as you know increases your FP cost by 50 which isn't worth it, but also because we're using Ranni's Dark Moon, this spell will be increased in damage from using this staff, and it's not a spell that you use all the time, but when you are using it, you are going to get the benefit of that.

Tips for Moonlight Crusader Gameplay
When you're running around doing areas of the game, you'll use the moonlight greatsword ability to charge up the weapon, this buff lasts about a minute and increases your magic damage, and allows you to do the wave that shoots out with r2 or charge r2 attacks, you also want to supplement this with other spells using like Comet or Great Glintstone Shard or something, when enemies are out of reach or you can't hit them, the moonlight greatsword has terrible up and down vertical problems like if there's any sort of stairs or any sort of incline, it does not handle this very well generally, so if you're trying to fight an enemy that's above you or below you at all, we would recommend using some sort of spell to deal with them rather than the moonlight greatsword, you should get familiar with using it, as much as you can and a lot of the way the boss fights you go sometimes is you'll go through the boss fog, you'll drop Terra Magica because this increases your damage by 25 percent of your magic damage, this applies to moonlight greatsword obviously as well as your Elden Ring spells, you'll drop that you'll throw up Greatblade Phalanx really quick, and then you'll cast Ranni's Dark Moon which will then hit for very good damage into the enemy, and it'll debuff them, allowing for you to deal increased magic damage to that enemy, and then if you get set this frostbite status effect between Ranni's Dark Moon and moonlight greatsword, they'll have even less damage absorption for a little while, and then your magic damage attacks will hit for even more damage, learning when to use Terra Magica and when to use Ranni's Dark Moon and boss fights is very important, you obviously want to lead with these if you can, but sometimes, you just won't have an opening or an enemy is really aggressive, but if you can get set up with these fights go a lot smoother.
