A new character with the unique ability to manipulate the souls of the dead, called 'Soul Eater,' has been introduced into the KR version of Lost Ark. Let's break down when it will be released in US/EU server, and take a view of the skills, engravings, tripods, gems and more gameplay mechanic about the brand new female Assassin class!

Lost Ark Soul Eater Guide - Release Date, Skills, Engravings, Builds & Gameplay

The 'Soul Eater' is the fourth class in the assassin job group. Soul Eater is an assassin-type character who wields a large scythe and specializes in dealing with reapers and spirits. Soul Ester primarily uses the powerful 'Reaper' skill, which consumes Soul Stones and can gather gauge points to transform into a 'Reaper Form,' enabling them to deal even greater damage. Depending on their specialization, they can either maintain the Reaper Form or gain a unique buff called 'Soul Snatch' instead of entering the Reaper Form.


Lost Ark Soul Eater Release Date (NA/EU)

On July 20th, 2023, Smilegate RPG officially updated the new class 'Soul Eater' in the Lost Ark KR server.  But when will Soul Eater be released on the NA/EU version of Lost Ark? We predict that it is likely to be in July or August of 2024. For example, on July 1 of 2022, Smilegate RPG added Aeromancer to the Korean version of Lost Ark, while this class will not be added to NA realms of Lost Ark until August 2023.


Soul Eater Identity

The identity of the Soul Eater is comprised of two forms: 

① Gathering Soul Stones through the 'Death Skills' and 'Ghost Skills,' then utilizing these Soul Stones to unleash Reaper Skills. It is similar to Battle Masters and Destroyers, but here, there is an additional special gauge.

② 'Possession/Bound Gauge,' which, when filled, allows for dealing powerful damage.

The 'Reaping' state, similar to Berserk or Ignition, lasts for 13 seconds after activation. During this duration, attack speed is increased by 10%, movement speed by 20%, and critical hit rate by 20%. Furthermore, upon transitioning to the Reaping state, a debuff is applied for 10 seconds, increasing the damage received from enemies within a 7-meter radius by 6%. This debuff is the same as Soul Eater's basic synergy effect and does not stack. Reaping ends after using Reaper Skills 3 times. If one desires to maintain the Attack/Speed/Critical buffs for a longer duration, it is also possible to delay using Reaper Skills until the end. Although not mentioned in the tooltip, the damage increase also applies to the neutralized damage of Reaper Skills during the Reaping state."


Soul Eater Class Engravings

  • ① Boundary of the Abyss - The specialization 'Boundary of the Abyss' removes the Soul Stone cost of the Reaper skill but prevents the activation of the Reaper Form, allowing them to enter the powerful 'Soul Snatch' state, dealing significant skill damage. 

  • ② Executor of the Full Moon - On the other hand, the specialization 'Executor of the Full Moon' enhances the Reaper Form, increasing the damage output of the Reaper skill and reducing its cooldown, enabling them to deal massive damage.

When equipped with the engraving 'Executor of the Full Moon,' the Reaping effect is enhanced, providing options such as resetting the cooldown of Reaper Skills upon entering the Reaping state, increasing the damage of Reaper Skills during the Reaping state by 15%, and reducing the reuse delay of Reaper Skills by 70%.

On the other hand, the other engraving, 'Boundary of Twilight,' does not seal the Reaping state but instead increases the damage of Ghost and Reaper Skills by 40% and 50% respectively for enhanced Reaper Skills using Soul Stones. Additionally, when the modified 'Bound Gauge' is fully charged, it triggers a debuff called 'Soul Drain.' During this debuff's 13-second duration, you gain the effect of receiving 120% increased damage from Ghost Skills, a 40% reduction in reuse delay, and the ability to acquire the gauge, while the use of Reaper Skills is blocked. Similar to Reaping, it provides a 20% increase in attack speed, 10% increase in movement speed, and a 300% increase in combat resource recovery.

If Executor of the Full Moon showcases a powerful burst damage cycle after Reaping, Boundary of Twilight allows you to accumulate identity based on enhanced Reaper Skills and then operate in a manner where you continuously unleash Ghost Skills after acquiring Soul Drain."


Soul Eater Skills & Tripods

The Soul Eater has three main skill sets: Salgue (Murderous Ghost, Purple), Mangja (Death, Green), and Sasin (Reaper, Pink). 

Usually, a Soul Eater focuses on skills from Salgue to Sasin, while Fullmoon Soul Eaters use skills mainly from Mangja to Sasin. Salgue skills are fast and concise, but they have lower coefficients. However, they offer various useful effects such as mobility, synergy, and countering. Mangja skills, on the other hand, have decent coefficients but lack the effects of individual or identity soul stones, making them supportive skills as well. Sasin skills are the primary ones and can be strengthened by gathering soul stones for usage.

Salgue Skills (Murderous Ghost, Purple)

Purple skills are the main DPS skills for the red New Moon build, also skills like Lunatic Edge, and Threshing has the 6% additional damage synergy. These skills fail the Soul Stone meter only and Wealth runes cannot be used. 

  • Riddle Spinning is the major DPS skill, red builds goal is to use the skill twice within transformation time. The third tripod can make the skill a hold skill or a casting skill.

  • Lunatic Edge is a universal skill that provides up to 19.2% movement speed buff on the second tripod at level 5 along with the first tripod being the Synergy skill. This skill is often chosen to cover utility and synergy at the same time. 

  • Threshing and Harvest are sub-DPS skills for the red moon build. 

Mangja Skills (Death, Green)

Green skills are often used as utility and meter gain which is mostly used by the purple build. These skills fill up both Soul Stone meter and the main Grim Reaper identity meter. The Wealth Rune only impacts the main Grim Reaper identity meter, meaning it doesn't impact the Soul Stone meter. Since DPS potential in this category is bad, these were researched by most meter gains, the soul drain skill fills one Solsto meter with proper tripods, this is claimed to be a must-skill for both builds.

  • Asteroth, Death Order, and Spectral Coffin are used as sub meter gain skills, out of the three we think most people are using Asteroth and Death Order due to their meter gain and Superior concise animation. There is a fun tripod called Masochism where you can decrease the cooldown of the skills and increase its damage. But you will take 3% additional damage stacking up to 12% every time you cast the skill, this hasn't been used as much yet but is often used to match cooldowns for skill cycles

  • Deafyard is a Synergy skill in this criteria along with gluttony as counter.

Sasin Skills (Reaper, Pink)

Pink skills are the main DPS skills for both classes, it requires you to use a Soul Stone to activate it. 

  • Guillotine Swing is the number one priority of Soul Eater with choices of tripods on the second row, you can adjust cooldown and animation. The second one is currently being avoided due to unrealistic long animations. 

  • Soul Sinners and Vestige can be a chart skill and Vestige can be a two-stack skill for the shortest cooldown potential. People started using Vestige for the red build to fit it in their fast cycle. So therefore two out of Soul Sinners: Vestige and Death Whipping are often used at the purple build as the main DPS skill.

Counter Skills

The Soul Eater has two counter skills, Rust Nail, and Gluttani, and both Salgue and Mangja Soul Eaters can choose to use them based on their respective occupations. 

Both of these skills have immunity tri-pods beyond being hit, making them quite practical to use. While most Salgue skills have back attacks, Mangja skills do not possess them, and Sasin skills are only available for Soul Sinus and Death Whipping. Furthermore, both skills can remove the back attack type through a tripod. For this reason, if it's a Gumae (current) Soul Eater, it can use the "Price of Surprise" occupation, but it's challenging for Manwol Soul Eaters to use.

Soul Eater Skill Summary:

  • - Increased damage received synergy: Lunatic Edge, Thrashing, Death Yard

  • - Movement/Utility skills: Rust Nail, Ghost Step

  • - Counter skills: Rust Nail, Glutney

  • - Movement speed increase skills: Lunatic Edge, Ghost Step, Reaper Form - 20% increased movement speed

  • - Life-stealing skills: Spectral Coffin, Astharos, Glutney, Death Yard

Soul Eater Purple Full Moon Build Gameplay

The purple build is a spender burst phase DPS hitmaster class. Due to Pink skills having special tripods to change its attribute to hit Master, people are testing other combat stat allocations like spec swift, but Swift hasn't been providing much value because the class lacks crit a little bit, so most builds tend to be full spec to sub on crit. The build needs 12 rooms for green skill meter gains but double purples are mandatory at the moment.

For a playstyle you will need one Soul Stone to cast pink skills, your main identity position meter will fill up when you land green skills and pink skills, and when the meter is full this can be activated with your Z key. If you activate your meter you will be able to transform to reset your pink skills cooldown. So if we use my pink skills here, if we press C the pink skills will be reset and we can use it again with enhanced damage. 

When you cast this enhanced version the cooldown is reduced by 70, therefore casting your pink skills when activating your meter is your goal to cast your major DPS skills twice.

The fundamental playstyle of this build is to keep rotating your Guillotine while squeezing in pink skills and green skills to gain possession meter on time.  If you rotate and land everything properly, after every second Guillotine you can reset with your Z key to rotate your pink skills again with enhanced damage, so it is crucial to always rotate Guillotine skill and fit everything else between.


Soul Eater Red New Moon Build Gameplay

This build is a non-directional spender cycle DPS with burst face, meaning hipmaster engraving can be used but entropy and Bushmaster engraving can be used as well, but you can benefit from back attacks. This build is a crit swift build and the allocation of these combat stats is to cover lacking cooldowns or crit rates meaning it can be like any ratio based on what you're trying to achieve. The build does not need wealth and convection judgment can be used as well. With the engraving applied, the main meter transforms into a vigilance meter, and pink skills can be used at any time, enhanced pink skills will require three soul stones instead of one. Your goal is to cycle the skills, and use enhanced pink skills for meter gain as you can see here the differences are massive.

The fourth or the fifth time you use your pink skill, you'll be able to transform. The transform is automatic instead of the button press. The key is to transform the guillotine due to faster animation, when you're transformed for 12 seconds, your purple skills get 120% more damage 40% cooldown with 20% attack speed and 10% movement speed, along with 300 Mana recovery on top of that. During this time your goal is to cast your main DPS skill - riddle spinning twice, along with squeezing and as many purple sub-DPS skills as you can, this phase is when the class is dealing the most damage.
